what i’m working on
Claiming The Justice Narrative
Claiming The Justice Narrative, a multimedia theatrical project, aims to counter popular narratives that persistently drive criminal justice discourse in this country. Collaboratively-devised by formerly-incarcerated artists and facilitators from The Confined Arts’s Arts, Justice, and Safety Coalition, participants engage in a healing-centered cross-generational dialogue towards the development of material for a multimedia theatrical event to be presented collaboratively for leadership figures in the public safety/criminal legal space.
Our premiere film, Before Time / After Time, takes the audience on a journey through the lives of nine returned citizens and seeks to support recent incursions in the felony court space by furthering alternatives to incarceration policy shifts. The film will be screened in collaboration and conversation with the Manhattan DA and Brooklyn DA’s office in the Fall of 2023.
Theater of change: Reimagining justice through abolition
Broadway Advocacy Coalition’s 14 week collaborative course with Columbia Law School in Spring 2022. Artists in this course joined forces with law students and directly-impacted community advocates to develop and create performance pieces that envision a path to abolition and strategized how and where these performances can occur to achieve sustainable impact.
